Charles Peterson is the man who defined Seattle’s look with his hyper-focused highlights stolen from the music’s blurry sea of chaos.

“He offered a vision of unification. It totally captured the essence of the music.” Sub Pop Records Founder Bruce Pavitt succinctly describes the importance of Charle’s work.

His iconic photography style defined the burgeoning grunge scene during the late eighties and early nineties. His close-up, visceral photos makes you feel as though you're front row in a dingy club basement watching luminaries of the scene.

His moments frozen in time, published in the alt rock press at the end of the 20th century were the epitome of Grunge. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth, L7, TAD, Mudhoney and countless other bands, were all framed by his artistic vision, and these photos undoubtedly lit the touchpaper that sparked a local scene into becoming a world-wide phenomenon.
